Back in the old days, peace signs is not just a peace sign. A V-sign is a sign of insult. The history dated back during the 100 Years War between France and England. Frenchman would cut the middle and index finger of an English bowmen during capture so that they can't shoot arrows any longer, thus English that survives raises their two fingers as a show of insult to the French as they still have their two hand the French most fear. The sign is called "The Longbowman Salute".
Back on the present, in British, an act of using your index and middle finger to show a V-sign with palm facing inward is directly as a show meaning "Fuck Off" or "Go to Hell". This gestures are still present in England.
So the next time you go to England, watch you peace sign if you don't want to get friendly punch on the face.
